Florida Solar Incentives and Rebates

Lower your upfront costs with Florida’s generous solar incentives and rebates. Our team can help you navigate the application process.

Federal Solar Tax Credit (ITC)

Florida homeowners can benefit from the 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit, which applies to the entire cost of the solar system, including equipment, labor, and any battery storage. This can significantly reduce the upfront cost of installing solar panels in Florida.

Florida Sales Tax Exemption

Solar installations in Florida are exempt from the state’s 6% sales tax. This means immediate savings on your total system price, with an average savings of around $2,000 on a typical $30,000 solar energy system.

Property Tax Exemption

Normally, increasing your home’s value raises your property taxes. However, Florida’s property tax exemption ensures that the added value from your home solar panel system will not result in higher property taxes. This can save you approximately $280 per year, or about $5,600 over 20 years.

Net Metering

Florida’s net metering program allows homeowners to earn energy credits for excess electricity their solar panels generate. These credits can offset future utility bills, making solar energy systems even more cost-effective. This is particularly valuable in a state with as much sunlight as Florida.

Battery Backups for Solar Panels in Florida

In Florida, battery backups provide reliable power during storms and outages. Paired with solar panels, they store extra energy, keeping essentials like lights, refrigerators, and medical equipment running when the grid goes down. Unlike generators, battery backups don’t need fuel and are quieter, using clean energy stored from your solar energy system.

Designed to handle Florida’s extreme weather, including high winds, severe rain and hail, solar panel systems with battery storage offer peace of mind during hurricane season.

our solar is not working. Current Home sent Orlando Morales out to figure out what's not working. He identified the problem and called us that evening to explain what was going on. He took the initiative to get the problem prioritized and hopefully resolved. He totally went out of his way for us at a time when we have felt completely neglected. Gabby Santos has also been great - she is doing her best to get the optimizers shipped out to us and has been in touch with us regularly with updates. We have been very impressed with Current Home from the beginning. we wish we could say the same for Solar Edge!

I am extremely excited to have my solar service through Current Home! My electric company approved my connection on April 9, 2026. I officially turned the system on Friday, April 10! Michael Cookston was my rep and he was amazing! He explained the process very thoroughly and kept me informed along the way. Any questions I could think of, he was there to answer - early morning, afternoons, weekends. And he paired me with Gabby Santos - my Project Manager who was also absolutely incredible! She kept communication going with me from start to finish. I really appreciate the time and attention she gave to keeping me updated with every step of the process so I was completely in the loop at all times. She was there for me to walk me through turning the system on - that was so helpful. I was nervous trying to do it on my own. Gabby is very helpful, personable, pleasant, and helpful. You can tell that she really loves helping people and believes in what she’s doing. If you are thinking about going solar, don’t hesitate to at least reach out to Current Home. They will answer your questions and put you at ease. I couldn’t have made a better decision.

I can’t say enough good things about Current Home. Daniel from their Customer Concierge Team was (and still is) extremely helpful. I think I’ve had like 1,000 more questions pop up over the past few weeks, and Daniel was there to help me day and night. We are so grateful to be getting away from Duke, and are super happy we picked Current Home to help us do it!

I recently had a problem with my solar system, I called Current Home and spoke to Gabby Santos about the problem and as always she scheduled a technician to come to my house to address the problem. I had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday at 9:00 AM with a technician named Willie Walker, who showed up at least 15 minutes early. I was very impressed by the professionalism displayed by Mr. Walker, he took the time to explain possible causes and what he was going to do to try and isolate the cause. he spent several hours investigating and repairing some problems he found. When he finished he spent time with us explaining what he found and how he repaired it. I feel that his professionalism and presentation skills are qualities that are in short supply in today's service industries. These skills along with his technical knowledge and abilities are very rare and should be rewarded!
